As we approach the warmer months, it’s almost time to cool down with a rum in the sun. 

When thinking of the sights, scents, and tastes of summer, a beachside cocktail is right up there with the smell of SPF 50 and hot sand in our toes. Rum-based cocktails transport us to some faraway tropical island.

Diplomático has revealed its new summery spin-off recipes to create a perfect cocktail with your favourite rum, so it doesn’t go to the back of the liquor cupboard when things heat up. And here they are…

DIPLO SPRITZ

Ingredients:

30ml Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva

25ml Campari 

Top up with Sparkling Water

Ice

Method: Pour all ingredients into a wine glass. Garnish with an orange slice 

DIPLO MAI TAI

Ingredients:

25 ml Diplomatico Planas

25 ml Diplomatico Mantuano

10 ml Orange liquor

20 ml Lime juice

30 ml Pineapple juice

Ice

Method: Add all ingredients to a shaker, with crushed ice for a bit of dilution. Shake and serve over ice.

Garnish: Fresh Mint and pineapple leaf.

MANTUANO SUMMER PUNCH (ingredients for 5-6 cocktails)

Ingredients:

200 ml Salted Caramel Syrup

500 ml Diplomático Mantuano

500 ml Apple Juice

400 ml Earl Grey tea

Ice

Method: Add all ingredients to the punch bowl with ice for a bit of dilution, stir with a spoon and add peach slices at the end.Garnish: Peach slices, mint and lemon slice
