You may have recently read our delight at the fact that The Wiseman Bourbon and The Wiseman Rye is now available from the home of Bourbon, Kentucky, right here in Australia. So to get to know more about this amazing spirit, we sat down with The Wiseman Global Ambassador Tom Jones:
DS – What’s the difference between a Kentucky Bourbon and a Rye?
TOM – It’s all about the raw materials used to make them. Rye must be made using more than half of the cereal being Rye. bourbon more than half being Corn. So if you imagine you were making a bowl of porridge at home – you could make a mix with different cereals rather than oats. Our Rye is 95% Rye and 5% Malted Barley. We use many Bourbon variants. An example could be. 76% corn 17% wheat and 7% malted Barley.
DS– What’s the best way to drink both?
TOM – There’s something about savouring a glass of smooth, rich whiskey neat, over the biggest rock of ice i can find.
DS – What food do you love eating with a Wiseman Bourbon?
TOM – Maple cured bacon is fabulous. Fresh black cherries or cherry pie is simply sublime. Good Biltong or jerk while watching the game, is great
DS – What’s your favourite cocktail to make with a Wiseman Bourbon or Rye?
TOM – The Wisemanhattan is my favourite cocktaIl. If you’re looking to make it…
